What our server sees
When you press Get video, the link you pasted is sent to our server, which reads that video’s public page on Vimeo and returns the list of qualities. The result is kept in memory for ten minutes so that a second visitor reading the same video does not ask Vimeo again.
To stop scripts from reading Vimeo through us, the server counts reads per network address for one hour, in memory only. The count is never written to disk and disappears on restart.
Requests that fail are logged without your address: the time, the page asked for, the browser name and the error, kept for 14 days to find faults.
What goes straight between you and Vimeo
The video, its sound, subtitles and images travel from Vimeo’s servers to your browser directly, as they do when you watch on vimeo.com. Vimeo sees those requests under its own privacy policy. They do not pass through our server.
What we don’t do
No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no account. The page remembers nothing between visits except your choice to hide the VidHatch suggestion, which your browser stores locally for two weeks.
VidHatch
After a save the page may suggest VidHatch, a browser extension for saving video. It is a plain link; if you click it, vidhatch.com learns that you came from savevimeo.
Hosting
The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes visitor addresses to deliver and protect it. Questions: [email protected].
